The Arun Hunku Valley – Mera Peak Trek is one of Nepal’s finest wilderness adventures, combining remote cultural trekking with the ascent of Mera Peak (6,476 m)—the highest trekking peak in Nepal. Unlike the standard Lukla route, this spectacular journey begins in the lush Arun Valley and gradually traverses the hidden Hunku Valley before reaching the magnificent glaciers of Mera Peak.

The trek passes through untouched Rai and Sherpa villages, dense rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, sacred lakes, and high mountain passes, offering an authentic Himalayan experience far from the busy Everest trails. Along the way, trekkers enjoy breathtaking panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Chamlang, Baruntse, and countless snow-capped peaks.

Day 01 :

Day 01 – Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m)

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our representative will receive you and transfer you to the hotel. Rest, recover from travel, and prepare for the trek.

Day 02 :

Day 02 – Kathmandu sightseeing & preparation

Guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. Final permit processing, gear check, and trek briefing.

Day 03 :

Day 03 – Fly to Tumlingtar (410 m), drive to Kartike Ghat (523 m)

Scenic flight to eastern Nepal followed by a drive to the lower Arun Valley. Begin the journey into remote Rai settlements.

Day 04 :

Day 04 – Trek to Ghote Bazaar (1,225 m)

Easy trek through riverside trails, terraced farms, and small villages introducing the Arun Valley lifestyle.

Day 05 :

Day 05 – Trek to Salpa Phedi (1,685 m)

Gradual climb through forests and scattered settlements with increasing mountain views.

Day 06 :

Day 06 – Trek to Guranse (3,055 m)

Steeper ascent through rhododendron and oak forests. First major altitude gain with Himalayan scenery.

Day 07 :

Day 07 – Cross Salpa Pass (3,565 m), trek to Gudel (1,968 m)

A challenging day crossing Salpa Pass, followed by a long descent into a traditional village.

Day 08 :

Day 08 – Trek to Bung Village (1,677 m)

Comfortable trail through hills and forests leading to a culturally rich Rai and Sherpa village.

Day 09 :

Day 09 – Trek to Khiraule Gompa (2,693 m)

Climb toward Buddhist monasteries with increasing spiritual and mountain atmosphere.

Day 10 :

Day 10 – Trek to Chalem Kharka (3,600 m)

Enter alpine pastureland with wide open landscapes and fewer settlements.

Day 11 :

Day 11 – Trek to Panch Pokhari (4,070 m)

Reach sacred high-altitude lakes surrounded by dramatic peaks and peaceful surroundings.

Day 12 :

Day 12 – Trek to Mosom Kharka (3,690 m)

Descend into remote valleys connecting toward the Hunku region, entering isolated terrain.

Day 13 :

Day 13 – Trek to Thangnak (4,358 m)

Join the Mera Peak route. Trail becomes more alpine with glacier views and rugged terrain.

Day 14 :

Day 14 – Trek to Khare (5,045 m)

Arrive at Mera Peak base area. Stunning views of Everest, Makalu, and surrounding giants.

Day 15 :

Day 15 – Acclimatization & training at Khare

Rest day for altitude adaptation. Basic climbing training including rope, crampons, and safety techniques.

Day 16 :

Day 16 – Trek to Mera High Camp (5,780 m)

Short but steep climb above glaciers. Night stay in high camp with extreme mountain environment.

Day 17 :

Day 17 – Summit Mera Peak (6,476 m), descend to Khare

Early morning summit attempt. One of Nepal’s highest trekking peaks with panoramic Himalayan views. Return to Khare.

Day 18 :

Day 18 – Trek to Kothe (3,580 m)

Long descent through Hinku Valley, returning to greener forests and warmer climate.

Day 19 :

Day 19 – Trek to Thuli Kharka (4,300 m)

Gradual ascent through yak grazing areas and alpine ridges.

Day 20 :

Day 20 – Cross Zatrwa La Pass (4,610 m), trek to Lukla (2,840 m)

Final challenging pass crossing followed by a descent to Lukla town, marking the end of trekking.

Day 21 :

Day 21 – Fly back to Kathmandu

Morning flight to Kathmandu. Free time for rest, shopping, or celebration dinner.

Day 22 :

Day 22 – Final departure

Transfer to airport for international departure.
