Tsum Valley Trek

17 Days

Overview

Tsum Valley is one of Nepal’s most remote and hidden gems, known as “Beyul Kyimolung”, the sacred hidden valley of happiness described by Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) in the 8th century.

The valley is rich in Tibetan Buddhist culture, with ancient monasteries, nunneries, and sacred caves such as Piren Phu, where the great yogi Milarepa is believed to have meditated. Today, the region still preserves its strong spiritual traditions and unique mountain lifestyle.

Surrounded by stunning landscapes and the towering Ganesh Himal, the valley offers beautiful forests, traditional villages, and peaceful Himalayan scenery. The name “Tsum” comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo”, meaning vivid or bright, reflecting the valley’s natural beauty.

Many trekkers combine Tsum Valley with the Manaslu Circuit Trek, starting from Arughat Bazaar and often ending at Besisahar. The route passes through green countryside, Hindu villages, and then enters the quiet forested trail of pine and rhododendron before opening into the Tibetan-style settlements of Tsum Valley.

A return via the same route is also common, as a full circuit is not always possible depending on itinerary and permits.
