Langtang Ganja La Trek

14 Days

Overview

The Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek is a challenging and scenic journey north of Kathmandu, leading close to the Tibetan border. The trail passes through beautiful Tamang villages, where you can experience rich Buddhist culture and traditional Himalayan lifestyle.

The trek reaches Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), the last village in Langtang Valley, surrounded by stunning mountain views. From here, an acclimatization hike to Tserko Ri (5,000m) offers incredible panoramas and prepares trekkers for higher altitude.

The main highlight is crossing the dramatic Ganja La Pass (5,200m), a remote and often snow-covered pass that requires good fitness and trekking experience. In spring and autumn, conditions are more favorable for crossing this high mountain route.

After the pass, the trail becomes fully remote for 3–4 days, requiring camping with full support from experienced guides and crew. The route then descends through the beautiful Helambu region, passing villages like Tarkeghyang and Sermathang.

Finally, the trek ends at Melamchi Bazaar, from where you return to Kathmandu. This trek offers a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and untouched Himalayan wilderness.
